Good morning everyone
,Â
New Milford schools are on a two hour delay. We will begin classes at 11:30 AM.
As always, please use your best judgment, as everyone’s circumstances are always a little bit different. Let us know as soon as possible if you will not be able to make it in today.
We hope to see everyone there before our long weekend!
Thank you!

Good morning everyone!Â
We have another AM weather event. As many of you can see, there is a considerable amount of snow on the ground. New Milford Public schools have called for a three hour delay.
We will be canceling classes for the day.
However, the students have a social event scheduled at the Bank Street theater this afternoon, I believe.
Knowing this group, I am sure they will not want to cancel their event, but that is up to all of you. We will post plans to the EWoWInfo.org forum to make sure everyone is included in the planning.
Look outside! It’s gorgeous. Enjoy and be safe everyone!
Warmly,
Lockey

New Milford schools have just closed for the day. We’ve also heard from Scott McSpedon, Theresa’s husband who is a UPS driver, that the roads are pretty bad. Plus, there is a wind advisory in effect beginning at 1 PM. I was on the fence, but I think it’s best for everyone to stay home for the rest of the day, if you can.Â
Therefore, we are closed for the day. Enjoy your time everyone! I am encouraging our staff to send the students documentaries and/or movies that they could watch today for their classes, so please keep an eye out for those.
Thank you, everyone and be safe!
Warmly,
Lockey

Hello Community,
We have had enough students call out for the entire day that Mary and I have made the executive decision to cancel all classes and events for the day.Â
We get it! It's the Friday before the break, and only half a day of classes plus a long drive for many of you. Some of you are traveling this afternoon.Â
So, Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We are so grateful to have had such an awesome first term! We had interesting classes, record-breaking attendance and participation, festive student council events, and an exceptional group of teachers, students, and staff. So many successes, both big and small, are worth celebrating!
We will miss you all next week and look forward to another fun-filled, festive, and, dare I say, productive, winter term.
Big hugs to all!
Warmly,
Lockey

Good morning everyone!Â
There’s snow on the ground! It is so pretty. There is also a two hour delay for New Milford schools, so classes at Education without Walls today will BEGIN at 12 noon. The building will be open beginning at 11 AM for students to be dropped off.
This should give everyone an opportunity to get themselves organized, manage children who are headed off to public schools, clean up cars, etc. It will also give us a chance at EducationWithout Walls to clean up any walkways as necessary And for our staff to safely get themselves into work.
In case you did not hear, the MacAleer‘s are providing a Thanksgiving Ish lunch for the community today as well!
As always, please make the best choice for your family in terms of safety. We have families traveling from pretty far north who may have a more challenging commute today. If you will be late or will not be able to make it in, as usual, please make sure that you let Mary and Lindsey know.
Thank you, everyone. Be safe! And remember to enjoy the immense beauty that surrounds you.
Warmly,
Lockey

Hello All,
After a couple of discussions between Mary, myself, and the Executive Student Council members, we have decided that the party and lock-in scheduled for tomorrow evening will need to be rescheduled. We have several reasons for this:
1) Because the event was on a weeknight, finding enough parent volunteers for chaperones and next-morning cleaners was challenging. We did not have enough volunteers for all these hours and tasks.
2) We realized that tomorrow night is also hell night (the night before Halloween, when some characters like to 'raise hell'). While this is not a huge issue in and of itself, we still felt caution is warranted.
3) The kids (and Mary and myself) are totally exhausted after our incredibly successful pumpkin carving, Haunted Trail, and Cooking Contest spirit events. It was a lot of extra work for everyone and so much fun for all of us, but looking at the kids' faces today, it's clear they are spent. With Halloween on Thursday, we want to try to keep them healthy enough to enjoy their own traditional celebrations and their short break coming up.
The students are conversing to try and find another night that works for everyone. We will pass along any firm decisions once they are made.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their costumes during the day tomorrow. The MacAleers will be providing a Halloween-themed lunch. Yes, we are letting them have candy tomorrow and pumpkin pie! It should be a fun day, but one that still ends with their last class of the day.
As always, please get in touch with any questions or concerns.
Best,
Lockey

We need a parent or parents to volunteer to organize this trip. It's easy! And you can get a bunch of hours for it. ;) If we don't get this organized right away, it's not going to happen. Tickets sell out fast! Please step up and volunteer. YOUR CHILDREN ASKED TO DO THIS and it is a ton of fun.

Monday 9/30 Details:
Hidden Valley Preserve Quartz Mine!
Meet at 10:30 am in the main Hidden Valley parking area on Bee Brook Rd, Washington Depot (GPS 198 Bee Brook Rd., link to Google Maps navigation from EWoW attached below).
Pickup between 2-2:30pm in same parking lot.
Bring lunch, snacks, water bottle, sneakers or hiking shoes.
From the Hidden Valley website about the walk: "a 40-minute stroll along the banks of perhaps the wildest section of the Shepaug River. The shimmering summer waters are belied by tractor-sized boulders that dot the riverbed.
The final section of trail is a series of cool switchbacks carved deep into the hills, which loom above the narrow path. The crunch of quartz pebbles snapping with each step announces the approach to the mine. (1.34 miles one-way)".
