Hello All, A few clarifications ... this is not an official EWoW trip. As usual this is organized and executed by parents only. Please make sure checks are made out to cash to reimburse for tickets. Please also make sure that you know who your child will be traveling with to the aquarium. If you have questions, Lisa MacAleer is the point person on this trip and you should get in touch with her, not Lindsey or myself, nor any other EWoW staff member. Campbell Coughlin will be going as a volunteer, as well. She worked at the aquuarium in college and should be a great source of information, but she is NOT going as an EWoW staff member or official chaperone, just to help make it an even better experience for the students. Thank you!

Mary tells me that Lisa made one Gluten-free, one Veggie, and one Meat Lasagna each! Whew - thank you Lisa! Bring your appetites.

Dance/Formal/Prom FYI - the Formal/Prom/Dance is on! If you got a notice that it was cancelled, this is because we removed all of the parents from the Google calendar, except for the chaperones. We did not want parents to think they were scheduled to be there who were not chaperones. Those annoying notices go out automatically from Google, even when we have notifications turned off. Our apologies for any confusion! Our chaperones are: Ben Moran, Lisa Temple, and Mary Parascondola. We ask all other parents to enjoy an evening out. There are so many great things to do in downtown New Milford, if your preference is to stay close, but please do not plan on hanging out at 19 Main with your child(ren). Parents who are helping out: There are no fees for EWoW students for this event, but we do need your help! Finger food and clean up after the event are both very welcome! Food can be dropped off any time during the day until 7 pm. There are refrigerators on site, so early is fine even for items that require chilling. There is no way to heat food, though, so nothing hot please. Set Up is 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm for those of you assisting with prep. Drop off for students is 7 pm and pick up is 10 pm. Students are welcome to keep their formalwear at 65 Bridge, if they would prefer to change there after the Gala. If you have any questions, please ask me or Lindsey or Mary. We are here to help! Hello EWoW Families: Just to clarify what we talked about today in the student meeting ... 5th Fridays really are not designed to be a day off for students. They already have a lot of time off, as you are aware, and with the recent late season snow days, it has been more than anticipated. So, in order to encourage student participation, EWoW will offer credit for 5 missed classes in one class or across several classes to any students who choose to participate. This is a win-win, as the kids do not need to do additional homework assignments to make up for missed classes and they get the awesome educational experience of going to a learning-oriented destination with their friends! We hope that everyone will take this opportunity to get out and have some time with their kids/parents/friends. These experiences should enhance what kids are doing in the classroom, and because they are tailored for the students by their parents with input from the kids, they are so much more fun and memorable than anything designed for upwards of 40 kids or more! To get credit for your classes, just send us a picture of yourself on the field trip with the classes that you would like this time to go towards. Super simple. Parent volunteers, same thing - just send us a pic of yourself on the trip with the kids, and we will credit you 5 hours (or more if it is longer) towards your work hours. Some of you have already planned to begin your Spring Breaks early and will be traveling on these days. Totally fine! Take some time during your vacations to visit a historic locale or museum and send us those pictures. This way, you have the same opportunity to make up for missed classes as everyone else! March 31st is approaching fast!! How about Hyde Park for everyone? I have a few kids who like to go to the FDR House - they are studying WWII right now. This is a great area for all kinds of visits! The Vanderbilt mansion is right next door, and Olana is also very close by, for hiking, architecture, and art lovers. The Culinary Institute would be a great place to have lunch, also right there. Marist College and Vassar are there, as well. Perhaps a joint effort bringing all of the kids there and then breaking off into groups? You will need several volunteers to drive and students to choose where they would like to visit. One person to volunteer to organize everyone else would be most efficient.
