Below is a message from Shea Coughlin-Jacobs: Hello all! Abby Luis and a small professional camera crew will be coming into EWoW to gather some interview and B-Roll footage on Friday, September 27th, If you have not already please make sure you have filled out the Photo and Quote Release that is required with registration. Lindsey and I are happy to help make sure you have submitted that form if you are not sure! As with all video days, please make sure you are dressed in whatever way will make you feel most comfortable and confident in front of a camera. Abby would also like to extend the opportunity to any interested students to fill the role of Production Assistant, they can expect the following as a way to get some hands-on experience in filmmaking and add something to their resume. Please email Abby if you are interested in any of the following: For those interested in the technical side of filmmaking: - Help move/set up lighting and learn lighting design and techniques. - Use the fun clapboard thing and say "Action!" if they wanna. - Get to see an industry-grade camera build and learn its parts. - Shadow the crew members, ask them questions about their jobs, etc. For those interested in the creative side of things: - Shadow the director, ask me questions, etc. - Give input on images, examine stylistic shot approach. - Learn the intersections of form and content and how overarching themes from a written script can be expressed visually in shots. - Learn set etiquette and the functions of a smooth-running set, and learn how interviews are conducted (a GREAT holistic thing to learn for entering the adulting world). If you have any questions, feel free to ask Abby, or me so we can all be prepared for an awesome day of filming! Best, Shea Coughlin-Jacobs

Hello Everyone! The community is very excited about the Mount Tom year-end picnic on Thursday 5/23.   Mount Tom is a State Park (https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/State-Parks/Parks/Mount-Tom-State-Park) and all students, staff, and family members are welcome to attend. While there will be EWoW staff on site for the picnic, your children will need to, as always, be responsible for their own behavior and safety, will need to follow the rules of the park, and will NOT be under adult supervision while there.  There is a beach at the site and we are happy to say that Jaz Liotta is a certified lifeguard and will be overseeing water safety.  We cannot stress enough that water activities are inherently dangerous so if your child does not follow instructions, they will be asked to exit the water. We require permission from parents for three things: 1) General permission for your child to attend the picnic. 2) Transportation permissions. 3) Water-related activity permissions. If you plan to attend the picnic yourselves, then we will presume that you will also be responsible for your child's safety, of course. Please respond in the comment box below with the following: Your Child's Name A Statement that you either do or do not give permission for your child to participate in swimming/paddle-boarding. A statement that you either do or do not give permission for your child to attend the picnic. A statement that your child may drive with a staff member or other parent to the picnic. An acknowledgement that you have discussed your wishes with your child. OR A statement that you will be providing transport and supervision for your child. For example: Shea Coughlin Shea may attend the picnic but she may not go swimming. Shea may hitch a ride with any of the EWoW staff or parents. Shea is aware of my wishes. I understand that Shea will not be supervised while at the picnic. OR Tucker Coughlin Tucker may attend the picnic and go into the water, as well as participate in any water sports. Tucker may only drive with Mary, Hannah, or Isidora Naples. Tucker is aware of my wishes. I understand that Tucker will not be supervised while at the picnic. OR Campbell Coughlin I will bring Campbell to the park myself.  I will be at the picnic while Campbell is there. I look foward to your responses 🙂

Hello EWoW Community, I am posting this schedule as a reminder about the scheduled days off for classes and to indicate that there are updates. There are no labs during breaks moving forward but we are continuing the Drop-in Homework help sessions so please take advantage of them. Also, we have retracted the day off Tuesday March 12th in effort to make up some of the class time missed due to the weather related cancelations. If you have any questions, please email me :) lindsey@educationww.org (mailto:lindsey@educationww.org)

Hello everyone, Due to the potential for slippery conditions in the late afternoon, we are giving the option for parents to pick up their students early today. EWoW will remain open and classes will still be running as scheduled but we understand that some families commute from different areas of CT so please use your best judgment for a pickup time. If parents do choose to pick up their students early, we ask that they please have the student inform their teachers before they leave. Staff members, please be aware that this announcement may affect your class sizes for the rest of the day. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your attention and please stay safe on the roads as we move through the day.

Hello EWoW, I hope you all enjoyed your snow day. As we continue to face these changing weather conditions, we are now faced with the low temperatures that is allowing sheets of ice to devolp on roads in and out of New Milford. We are mirroring the public schools in the area in having a delayed opening tomorrow. EWoW will now be opening the building at 10 am tomorrow morning. All classes that are scheduled to begin prior to 10 am are canceled. Please let me know if you have any questions via email. As always, thank for your patience and understanding of these closures/delays as we make sure everyone stay safe in the bad weather conditions.

Good morning everyone, As a safety precaution for the incoming bad weather, EWoW will be closing at 3pm today. Parents, please plan accordingly to make sure your student has a ride home. There is a wind advisory for the Southern Litchfield Area for 4pm and a Flood watch for 7pm so we want to give everyone time for the commute. As for tomorrow, we are playing it by ear since there are warnings of anticipated power outages and falling debris in the area. We will keep everyone updated if there are delays or a cancellation. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
