Hello Everyone!
I hope that you are having a lovely summer. We have one more month with our kiddos before they start their next year at EWoW. I am reaching out because Tatum will be a junior, this year, and she has interest in and AP class as well as prepping for either the SAT or ACT. I am posting here to see if anyone else has a learner whose goals align with hers. Here is what we are thinking... NOTE: Both these ideas fall outside of what EWoW offers with tuition. So, they would require an extra cost. My hope is that we have a handful of students with interest in both these items so that we can share the cost of the extra fees. 1. CREATING AN AP OPTION FOR THE US HISTORY CLASS: The regular US History class meets twice a week. To give the option to convert it to an AP class, we would basically be adding one additional session per week just for the AP students (on Wednesday, I believe). Glenn Sanchez, the US History teacher, has a lot of experience teaching AP classes, so our kids would be in good hands. This would be a lot more work than the regular US History class, so the kids should be aware. Taking the AP US History exam at the end of the year is optional (and I believe there is a fee associated with it). But, it is and excellent addition to a transcript to further showcase your student's abilities; it also shapes them up to be more appealing for merit-based scholarships. Tatum is also looking to pursue the AP route because she is considering schools in the UK and they like to see APs on a transcript. 2. GET ACT/SAT TEST PREP AT EWOW: Again, Glenn Sanchez has lots of experience prepping kids for ACT/SAT exams. Our family plans on finding some sort of test prep opportunity for Tatum. But, before we look outside the school, we would love to see if there is interest at EWoW. It would just be much more individualized in-house. I am in conversation with Glenn about what test to focus on, and we already have one other family who has interest. I would love to find 3-5 more kids to bring down the cost. As soon as I guage interest, I can circle back with the group on the additional costs of these options. Please email me if your student has interest! All my best, Jenna Jenna@educationww.org
