Explanation of Expectations for All Members of our Community
The mission of Education without Walls is to encourage our students to discover and to develop what is finest in themselves, to cultivate their love of learning, to empower them to solve complex problems, and to equip them to take their lives in any direction they choose.
Our unique educational model thrives when students, parents, staff, and faculty engage in continuous cooperation and collaboration. We aim to give each student individual support while allowing them the freedom to develop their own positive personal and academic habits.
As such, students are expected to take on a level of personal responsibility not usually afforded in more conventional academic settings. While in our facility, they are responsible for behaving respectfully toward their peers and teachers, maintaining appropriate classroom decorum, and respecting the building and its contents. While not on-site during the day, they are responsible for their personal safety and returning to the building for classes in a timely manner since Education without Walls does NOT monitor activity outside the facility. Failure to behave in alignment with these standards will result in a meeting with the Program Director and the potential removal of privileges.
Students under 18 years of age are required to download the Life360 app and join the “EWoW circle”, and that location sharing must be turned on from the time that they are dropped off at 65 Bridge St until the time they are picked up by an adult.
Parents are an essential part of the community of Education without Walls. Consistent engagement in the form of checking for emails, the community portal, and other communication from the staff, participation in parent volunteer time, and open communication with your child about their academics will make for the best possible experience for your child. Parents are asked to monitor their children's academic work through Google classroom and maintain close communication with teachers regarding classwork, absences, familial expectations, etc.
We also require reading our Student/Parent Handbook and discussing its contents with your child before the first day of classes. There, you will find detailed policies and other useful information. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at info@educationww.org.
